The process of working on a mixed media piece begins with selecting a paper with the color or colors that will add to the overall initial intent. Sometimes simplicity in composition and distinct definition of shapes is the direction, other times complex layers and reworking of edges take over.
Finding new materials pushes Jack to discover methods to incorporate them with the existing mediums he uses. It also makes him ask questions about why he's drawn to certain materials, what do they bring to the process and how do they interact with the other elements.
